SENTENCE: Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine
On March 30, 2020 Jacob Jon Hunefeld, was sentenced for Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, a Class C Felony. Hunefeld was ordered to serve an indeterminate term not to exceed ten (10) years in the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections with credit for time served following arrest. The prison sentence stemmed from a traffic stop in which law enforcement obtained and executed a search warrant on a vehicle in which Hunefeld was traveling. Law enforcement found methamphetamine and evidence of distribution. In addition to the prison sentence, Hunefeld was ordered to pay a $125.00 Law Enforcement Initiative Surcharge, $10.00 D.A.R.E surcharge, $489.31 in victim restitution and $280.00 court costs. Prior to being sentenced, Hunefeld spent fifty-nine (59) days in the Lyon County Jail. The Court ruled that Defendant would not have the reasonable ability to repay the costs associated with his stay at the Lyon County Jail.
