Assistant Engineer
Assistant Engineer – Lyon County
Lyon County is taking applications for an Assistant Engineer to work out of our Rock Rapids, Iowa office. Duties will include designing engineering plans and specifications for road and bridge construction and maintenance projects and overseeing the work of survey crews and construction projects.
Salary: Depending on qualifications.
Job Summary Under general supervision of the County Engineer, the Assistant County Engineer plans, designs, implements, and administers contracts and construction projects to meet appropriate specifications and to maintain the Secondary Road system.
Prepares, completes, and audits construction project documentation for contract administration and inspection procedures; prepares bidding and letting documents for construction and maintenance projects.
Designs or oversees the design process for re-surfacing, bridge, culvert, drainage, grading, and other maintenance projects.
Responds to citizen inquires and requests; provides feedback and follows up with County residents to ensure concerns are accurately and adequately addressed.
Perform duties and functions of the County Engineer in his/her absence or as directed.
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
