DRAFT Hazard Mitigation Plan Available for Review

The Lyon County Emergency Management Agency is finalizing its Hazard Mitigation Plan draft before submission to FEMA for review and approval. The plan assesses risks and vulnerabilities of natural hazards to the county, cities, and school districts. It provides recommendations to increase their hazard resiliency and reduce risk. In doing so, these actions aim to protect property and those who reside within the county.

posted 10/8/25 · Engineering & Secondary Roads As part of the FEMA environmental compliance review process for a Public Assistance-funded project for the Lyon County – Bridge Replacement – 04W FHWA No. 231260, we have determined the project site area is within the Special Flood Hazard Area Zone A (the 100-year floodplain). In order to comply with Executive Order 11988 and 11990, FEMA is required to complete an 8-Step determination review, per 44 CFR Part 9, regarding floodplain management and protection of wetlands. A Final Public Notice is required as part of the review (44 CFR 9.12).
