Mission Statement


The mission of Health Services of Lyon County, is to promote the public health and well-being of all residents. This is accomplished through a united commitment to assess individual and community needs and provide education and prevention services on health and wellness.

Health Services of Lyon County (HSLC) serves nearly 11,800 residents through various programs that promote healthy life choices, environmental and food safety, immunizations, and disease prevention. Our agency plays a prominent role with collaborating with our community and health partners to initiate innovative programs in order to address specific health issues.

Health Services of Lyon County offers vaccines to children who meet the qualifications of the VFC (Vaccines for Children) program and has the ability to bill the following insurance carriers: United Health Care (private), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Avera Health Plan, Sanford Health Plan, HAWK-I (United Health Care and AmeriGroup), and the following state health insurance plans: United Health Care and AmeriGroup.

COVID 19 VACCINE

Public Health offers J&J, Moderna, and Pfizer vaccines.


PUBLIC HEALTH OFFERING THIRD DOSES FOR IMMUNE COMPROMISED PATIENTS:

CDC recommends people who are moderately to severely immunocompromised should receive an additional dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine after the initial 2 doses.   


PUBLIC HEALTH UPDATE BOOSTER DOSES: CALL PUBLIC HEALTH AT 712-472-8200 WITH ANY QUESTIONS.


The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted September 13, 2021 to recommend a booster dose of Pfizer's mRNA COVID-19 vaccine in certain populations. These recommendations are ONLY for those who originally received two-dose series of Pfizer's COVID vaccine in the primary series.  


Effective immediately, CDC recommends:

*  People 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.

*  People aged 50-64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.

*  People aged 18-49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.

*  People aged 18-64 years who are at incresed risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may recieve a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months after their Pfizer-BioNTch primary series, based on their individual benefits and risks.


These recommendations are ONLY for those who originally recieved two-dose series of Pfizer's COVID vaccine in the primary series.


Please note at this time Moderna boosters have not received authorization.
